County vector files provide seamless countywide coverage in
which each map feature is represented on a separate layer for
easy editing and manipulation. The Public Land Survey System
(PLSS) is geo-referenced to USGS 1:24000 quadrangles in State
Plane NAD 83 projection. These digital files (.dwg or .dxf) on
CD-ROM are designed to be imported into most Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) software or other programs that
spatially reference data. Files are produced in full color.
Base map features include but are not limited to land
ownership, parcel boundaries, acreage, roadways, waterways,
section lines, municipal boundaries, and index to owners.
Includes a license to make unlimited reproductions for one year
from date of purchase. Vector files also available in DXF format. Contact us
for other file format availability
Vector Files present plat data in multiple layers containing lines, polygons and text
entities. Layers can be viewed individually or in any combination. In addition, each line
and polygon feature can be selected and modified individually and text entities can be
edited. The ability to single out and edit map features as "objects" is a quality unique to
Vector Files.
No. A Vector File contains the same information as the plat book.
Yes. The Index to Owners is included as an Adobe® PDF File.
No. A parcel line layer is included however complete parcel boundaries may be represented by a combination of layers containing parcel lines, roads, creek or other line features that commonly form the boundary of a property. Because all the parcel boundary data is included on the Vector File, a user could build parcel polygons (shape files) if they choose to do so.
No. RMP does not have attribute tables at this time.
Yes. RMP does have various owner, subdivision, highway, road and small tract data available in an MS Access File format for $100.00 per county. These datasets may be helpful for some users in creating their own attribute tables.
No. RMP does not include complete Parcel ID Numbers in our plat maps. However, Lake County, IL and McHenry County, IL do contain partial PINs.
Vector Files are compatible with most desktop mapping systems such as AutoCAD®, ArcView®, ArcInfo® or MapInfo®.
Yes. Our Vector Files have what we call "positional accuracy"; that is they have map features that are related to specific
control points to assure "real world" location.
The file size of an average county-wide vector is approximately 5MB in .dxf and the .dwg format is approximately 20MB.
Yes. Vector Files are produced in full color.
Yes. However, conversion fees do apply per county and may vary depending on the projection. Please contact our office
at 1-800-321-1627 for details.
Yes. Vector Files can be layered on top of or underneath other geo-referenced data to be viewed simultaneously.
However, this application is unique to the user's software.
Vector File data are edge matched within county boundaries to form seamless countywide coverage. Because of the hand
drawn cartography methods used years ago for base maps used primarily for book publishing purposes, edge matching
county boundaries to one another was not possible. The source data used to compile the base maps were not
necessarily from a consistent resource. In some counties, base map information was provided by local government. In
other counties, regional and federal government sources were used. Individual counties offered us their best available
base data at the time. Therefore, it was not possible to consistently match maps across county boundaries.
RMP's entire plat library is registered with the Library of Congress and therefore fully protected by Federal Copyright Law. A license is written permission to make unlimited reproductions (scan, view, modify, print, copy, digitally retain on an Intranet and web display) of RMP's plat data for one year from date of purchase for personal and business applications.
Yes. Metadata is included as a Word® document on all CD-ROMs.
