County GeoPDF Files are rectified township map pages layered with aerial
imagery creating a stand-alone GIS mapping solution. Maps are viewed
using Acrobat Reader ®, Standard® or Professional® and special features
such as latitude/longitude coordinate display, tools for measurement,
drawing, embedding notes and importing/exporting shape (.shp) files are
accessible using TerraGo Technologies'® GeoPDF toolbar. (Both Acrobat
Reader® and TerraGo Technologies'® GeoPDF toolbar are available as a
free download.) Base map features include but
are not limited to land ownership, parcel boundaries, acreage, roadways,
waterways, section lines, municipal boundaries, and index to owners.
Includes a license to make unlimited reproductions for one year from

Is there more information on my County GeoPDF CD-ROM than in the plat book?
Maybe. A County GeoPDF CD-ROM contains the same information as the plat book and a geo-referenced aerial image.
Is the Index to Owners included on my County GeoPDF?
Yes. The Index to Owners is included.
Are there attribute tables associated with my County GeoPDF?
No. RMP does not have attribute tables at this time.
Can I get a database file of the Index to Owners?
Yes. RMP does have various owner, subdivision, highway, road and small tract data available in an MS Access File format for $100.00 per county. These datasets may be helpful for some users in creating their own attribute tables.
Do you include complete Parcel ID Numbers (PINs)?
No. RMP does not include complete Parcel ID Numbers in our plat maps. However, Lake County, IL and McHenry County, IL do contain partial PINs.
What software do I need to use a County GeoPDF?
County GeoPDF's are viewed using Acrobat Reader ®, Standard ® or Professional ®. The free GeoPDF toolbar from TerraGo Technologies' ® is required to access all of the special features.
Is my County Geo-PDF geo-referenced?
Yes. Our images have what we call "positional accuracy"; that is they have map features that are related to specific control points to assure "real world" location.
Can I get my County GeoPDF in a different projection?
No. However, the free GeoPDF toolbar gives you the ability to change the coordinate system for each map according to your needs.
What size is a County GeoPDF?
County GeoPDF file sizes range from 60MB to 175 MB.
Is my County GeoPDF in color?
Maybe. The plat layer contains the same color scheme as the original printed plat book which may or may not have been produced with color. However, the aerial layer is in color.
Are the County GeoPDF edge matched by county?
County GeoPDF's are edge matched within county boundaries to form seamless countywide coverage. Because of the hand drawn cartography methods used years ago for base maps, primarily for book publishing purposes, edge matching county boundaries to one another was not possible. The source data used to compile the base maps were not necessarily from a consistent resource. In some counties, base map information was provided by local government. In other counties, regional and federal government sources were used. Individual counties offered us their best available base data at the time. Therefore, it was not possible to consistently match maps across county boundaries.
Why is there a license included with my County GeoPDF purchase?
RMP's entire plat library is fully protected by Federal Copyright Law. A license is written permission to make unlimited reproductions (scan, view, modify, print, copy, digitally retain on an Intranet and web display) of RMP's plat data for one year from date of purchase for personal and business applications.
Is a metadata file included with my County GeoPDF?
Yes. Metadata is included as a Word ® document on all CD-ROMs.
