RMP offers seamless countywide aerial imagery in both digital and printed formats. The digital files (.sid) on CD-ROM are geo-referenced and projected to UTM NAD 83 for easy import into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other programs that spatially reference data. This "birds eye view" is ideal for layering with other geo-referenced data sets. Like digital files, aerial prints are produced in full color. The finished map is laminated and comes with convenient hanging bars. Approximate size is 42" x 45" but may vary depending on the size and shape of the county. Does my Aerial image contain plat data?
No. These files contain aerial imagery only. However, RMP offers geo-referenced plat data in both RMP SmartImage and County Vector File formats which can be used as a layer with aerial imagery.
What software do I need to use an aerial image?
Aerial images are compatible with most desktop mapping systems such as ArcView®, ArcInfo®, or MapInfo®.
Is my Aerial image geo-referenced?
Yes. These images have what we call "positional accuracy"; that is they have map features that are related to specific control points to assure "real world" location.
What size is an Aerial image?
Aerial image sizes range from approximately 228 MB to 971 MB.
Is my Aerial image in color?
Yes. Aerial images are produced in full color.
Can I get my Aerial image in a different projection?
No. We do not offer projection conversion at this time.
Can I bring an Aerial image in as a layer?
Yes. Aerial images can be layered on top of or underneath other geo-referenced data to be viewed simultaneously. However, this application is unique to the user's software.
Are the Aerial images edge matched by county?
Yes. The Aerial image borders often slightly extend beyond the county border which will sometimes overlap a neighboring county. However, the geo-referencing creates a seamless view of multiple counties.
