We're reinventing the traditional plat book business by providing customers with a suite of products and services, including digital/mobile formats, GIS data, and custom mapping to help customers run their operations more effectively. Research – At the start of a plat mapping project, Rockford Map researchers spend time going through county records and data making sure all information is up-to-date and accurate according to county sources.

Cartography / Mapping – A team of professional cartographers and GIS techs update each county verifying base map and ownership information, correlating all data from public sources and third-party data providers.

Advertising Sales – The sales team works with local, regional, and national businesses to come up with a plan that will provide the best exposure and value for the advertiser's budget.

Pre-Press / Production – The gateway between our valued advertisers and the final plat book, they design and produce ads for the printed plat books and online advertisers.

Marketing – The marketing staff is responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of marketing and comunication on behalf of Rockford Map. The team maintains the website, newsletter, social media, promotions, and all other corporate literature.

Licensing – The licensing department stays on top of RMP's copyrights and reproduction requests. They handle renewals and new members on a daily basis and grant fair use licenses in appropriate circumstances.

Customer Service – The customer service team helps customers find the products that will fit their needs. They answer the phone, chat online, and reply to emails all with a smile on their face - guaranteed!

For more than seven decades, Rockford Map Publishers, Inc. (RMP) has been recognized as the country’s leading provider of county plat maps and related data in both print and digital formats which are used regularly by landowners, commercial entities, public agencies and recreationists.  The need for such detailed land information provides a unique and targeted opportunity for businesses to promote their goods and services to a specific local target market via our products and 


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Understand all RMP products, services and markets and their relevance to our advertisers
  • Develop and nurture relationships with current/potential advertisers
  • Sell advertising in print, digital and online platforms
  • Prepare advertising agreements and supply to office for timely processing
  • Monitor accounts that have not paid and perform due diligence for collection purposes
  • Work closely with Pre-press Department to ensure ad copy is submitted in the formats and timeframe required to meet print deadlines
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues with ad agreements, ad copy, complimentary products and billings
  • Establish local Reseller outlets as directed by management
  • Create up-selling opportunities of ancillary products and direct them to appropriate RMP representative 
  • Be aware of competitor’s products, pricing and strategies
  • Maintain sales resources and databases such that they are kept current and accurate
  • Adhere to reporting procedures and schedules
  • Provide input to key managers regarding sales opportunities and trends


Candidate qualifications:

  • Minimum three years proven B2B sales experience
  • Lead generation skills in a variety of commercial markets
  • A relationship-building and customer service style with solutions-oriented approach
  • Strong communication via eMail, phone, web meetings
  • Practical experience in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat/Reader platforms
  • Ability to learn and shift focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • General understanding of various image file formats 
  • Able to produce results with strict deadlines and minimal supervision
  • Driven with desire to be part of a team
  • College degree in Business or related field preferred but not required


This is a full-time, employee position that requires minimal travel. We would prefer that candidate’s home office be based within a few hours commute of Rockford, IL for additional training and occasional meetings.  Selling territory will be within the Midwest.

Compensation is a base salary plus commission, commensurate with experience.  Health, dental and life insurance.  Two weeks PTO during first year of employment with approximately eight paid holidays per year.  Friday afternoons off.
